Poetry’s Coming Home - A Documentary on the Annikki Poetry Festival is a tribute to the diversity of poetry, volunteer spirit and unifying power of culture. The documentary shows how a small courtyard event in Finland grows over a decade and a half into a highly valued, international cultural festival.

Directed by Aimo Hyvärinen, the film features volunteer workers behind the Annikki Poetry Festival as well as a large number of brilliant performers. Runtime: 1 h 6 min. Produced by HiQ visual. Premiere on 25 January 2019. Watch the trailer or the Full movie.

Screenings in 2019

Poetry's Coming Home had its U.S. Premiere at the FinnFest 2019 in Detroit on September 21.

Poetry’s Coming Home was seen at several Finnish literature and film festivals in summer 2019. The screenings was taken place at the Lahti Poetry Marathon on 15 June and Vanhan Kirjallisuuden Päivät in Sastamala on 29 June, after which the documentary was screened at the Huhtamo International Film Festival in July. At the end of the summer, on 28 August, Poetry’s Coming Home was screened at the Runokuu – Poetry Moon festival, which is part of Helsinki Festival. The documentary had also a screening at Poetry Week in Turku on November 11.
